Hey Guys!
Katie here! My mom and I own Market Shoppes in downtown Wetumpka. Since the airing of HGTV's premiere of Hometown Takeover, we have been overwhelmed with requests for our WETU hats. Ya' know, the one that Dave Marrs bought and wore from Market Shoppes?

We have had so many people ask what "WETU" stands for. In short, it is just a simple abbreviation of Wetumpka. However, to those of us who graduated from Wetumpka High, it takes on an all new meaning! I cheered through out high school (I'm the tall one in the middle
) and can remember "WETU" being used pretty much every where. I feel like we coined the term "WETU" to mean so much more than just the name of a town. "WETU" meant Friday night football games, stealing gnomes out of Mr. Rowe's front yard (WHS history teacher), junior/senior paintball wars, Christmas on the Coosa, The Goat Man on Bald Knob, Coach Stokely Bazemore, senior skip day on Lake Jordan, kayaking down the Coosa, and so much more. It describes our entire Wetumpka family and what makes this place so incredibly special.

I had the WETU hats custom made before the show aired. I honestly did it more as a novelty for those of us that went to Wetumpka High School. Now we have a wait list of people all over the United States wanting a WETU hat! ((SIDE NOTE: we have the rights to the WETU design and are the only store to sell the original WETU hats as seen on HGTV.))
So now you know what "WETU" really means
